The One We Call "Curly"

I had the best idea this past Halloween of dressing the boys as the Three Stooges. Since Chase's middle name is Lawrence (after my father who goes by Larry), he would have naturally been Larry. Logan would have been Moe, and Parker, with his gorgeous locks, would have been a perfect Curly. Of course, Jason said that no one would have known who they were, so I put my idea to rest. Parker, though, is asked on a daily basis by anyone and everyone where he gets those curls. The longer his hair gets, the more it looks like I gave him a perm. It is quite funny to have three totally different looking children be triplets. It sure makes it easy for people to remember their names, though. Anyway, this post is dedicated to my curly man, Parker. Of all of the kids, his personality makes him able to carry those curls with total ease.

Parker is in one word my fruit basket. He is the spunkiest, funniest child you will ever meet. He is everyone's best friend. All three of his brothers are always asking him to come play with them. And he is the only one to get the privilege of being Reid's special playmate (as determined by Reid) on a daily basis. (Jason and I do have a theory behind this but it is too long to post here, so just think about a Reid dictatorship and you get the picture.)

Parker is most interested in pretend playing, whether it be pretending to be a dog, playing cars, playing restaurant, or just dressing up. He has a short attention span when it comes to sports, but he loves to sing and dance. And boy does this kid have the moves. He could put JT to shame! Outside, Parker loves to drive the red "Fred Flinstone" car, which is a good thing because when he drives the powered vehicles he tends to run in to everything. He also loves to swing and pretend to mow and edge.

Parker makes friends with just about anyone, whether it be the people at church or just passersby in the store. He is also the best talker of the bunch. He always has something to say. When it comes to eating, he proclaims that everything is his favorite. He will willingly eat any veggie that I put before him, and he usually will ask for seconds on veggies (with the exception of carrots, peas and asparagus--but this is still better than the other three).

Parker also loves to read. He completely floored me the other night, when we were reading "Brown Bear". He said "Mommy, I do it" and then he proceeded to read the whole story word for word all by himself. I ended up messing up our bedtime routine because I had to call Jason in to hear him read it again, but I just had to share my amazement. He also will not stay in his big boy bed. He is wonderful about falling asleep there, but every night around 11:00, we have what we like to call "Parker Hour" where he comes in to snuggle. I think he just likes the personalized time, but he will also not go back to his bed. So, we have a permanent place on the floor that he calls his bed. The only problem is, that sometime between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., he makes his way back into the spot in our bed between Jason and me, and we are just too tired to realize that he is even there.

Parker started out as the biggest of the three at 5lb. 3 ou., but he has ended up being the smallest since he was two months old. He is right at the 50% in height, but his weight has always kept him in the 2nd%. He is always eating, so his doctor just thinks he will be a small framed boy. His size fits him, though, because his personality makes up for it. One thing I definitely know is that this boy is going places and I can't wait to see the adventures that he will take!

All About...Chase

I thought it would be fun to do a daily (ha..ha) or semi-weekly update on each boy. And since Chase usually goes last on everything because he is, after all, the youngest by two minutes, I thought that I would start with him.

Chase is an absolute sweetheart. Unfortunately, he got the OCD genes from both Jason and me, so he is REALLY OCD. I know I am bad, but this kid is worse. He is very much into things being in order and clean. He is obsessed with having a napkin at meals (like me), but wants a new one once his has one speck of food on it. Every morning, he helps Daddy and me with our bathroom necessities. He will get out my makeup and then closes the cabinet (because an open cabinet is one in disarray) and will hand Jason each clothing item as he gets dressed. We like to call him our little butler. He is also the most independent and has become obsessed with doing everything by himself. He wants so much to be like his big brother, Reid, that I can usually get him to do things by saying "Who can show me how a big boy does it." Just yesterday, he decided that he was going to bathe and dress himself.

Chase has the most contagious laugh, and he seems to be laughing all the time (a little on the prankster side). His giggle brings out a smile in just about anyone. He says the cutest things all the time. With the biggest Texas draw, he will say his name "Chaaaaase". Yesterday, he had me cracking up as he called "Dumbo"-"Gumbo".

He loves to eat spicy foods. He will eat salsa until he is literally red in the face. He is also still one of my best (and least pickiest) eaters.

Some of Chase's favorite things right now are playing outside (and driving the big truck--which he can really drive really well), swinging, playing trains and trucks, and playing with Reid. We have weaned him down to one paci (it's a start) and he still loves cuddling his two bears at night (although he is a bear himself to sleep with).

Chase loves reading books, and he has memorized his favorites, so he actually will read the story with me. One of his newest favorites is "Llama Llama Red Pajama". He will also sing any song as loud as he can and will usually scream at his brothers that it is "my turn" since he mostly enjoys hearing himself sing. Chase loves to say our dinner prayer and then during bedtime prayers, he will add his own special East Texas "Amen" during personal prayer time. He is also very attached to Miss Courtney at church, who has followed the boys as their Sunday School Director since they were babies. I don't know what we are going to do next year if and when we have to have a new director. Chase actually calls church "Courtney's house".

It is still so hard for me to realize that in just two and a half short years, Chase has gone from my sweet little 4 pound 9 ounce baby

to a spunky, full of life toddler. I can only imagine what is to come from my youngest buddy.
