I've always heard that once you have kids, time seems to slip away. Gosh is that true! I can't believe that in one month, my big guy will turn 5 and in three months my babies will be 2! Both of those seem like huge milestones to me. I remember when Reid turned 2 and how all of the sudden he seemed like a big boy--and now my little guys will be there. It makes me happy and sad all at the same time to know that my boys are growing up so fast.
Since I have yet to download the millions of pictures on the camera, this will be a picture less post. I will get them on here hopefully in the next few days. As for now, here is a little update on my soon-to-be 5 year old (sob) and the newly turned 21 month olds (sob, sob).
REID: I have so enjoyed watching Reid's mind grow lately. He is a little sponge, taking in everything. He absolutely loves learning and is so excited about all of his adventures at school. I am so glad that we were able to send him to preschool this year. He is growing so much mentally and in maturity. It cracks me up at some of the things he says, like on our way to school the other day, when another car sped past me and he said "Mommy, that lady wasn't following directions. It's okay, though, sometimes you just have to keep trying."
This past week, he memorized his first hymn of the month for church choir. I was so proud of him as I heard his angelic voice sing "A Mighty Fortress". He also played in his first soccer game, and while he could stand to be a tad more aggressive (a trait he got from his mother), he really can kick that ball (like his father). He is looking very forward to next month and his Spider man birthday party, although he has now informed me that he likes Star Wars (keep in mind he's never seen this, so I'm sure this one came into his head from school) and Batman, too--so who knows exactly how many themes his party will take on.
LOGAN: Logan continues to be our bear and loves snuggling, especially after waking up. He has gotten quite clingy to me lately, and has become very hesitant in who he goes to. I have to admit, I kind of like being wanted since Reid was always great at going to others. His speech has really taken off in the last two weeks. He is learning to ask for things and can call for each of his brothers by name.
Logan loves books and can easily spend a half-hour just reading. His favorite books are "Mr. Brown Can Moo" and "I Love You All the Time". He is still my fruit eater, but has become quite picky with his veggies and meats. Some of his favorites are bananas, carrots, apples, mandarin oranges, and anything with BREAD. He is infatuated with Big Bird, Elmo, and Mickey Mouse, and he LOVES playing with balls and shooting baskets outside. He also cannot go to bed without his "Neigh, Neigh"--a little horse lovie, and unfortunately, still his paci. He is wonderful at playing by himself, but also loves to play with all of his brothers. Logan is super sensitive, though, so if things aren't just right, he usually comes to hang out with me.
PARKER: Parker has such a spirit about life to him that everyone picks up on and loves. He is a social butterfly and makes sure to draw attention to himself everywhere we go. He also loves books and being read to, but he doesn't like to sit for long. His favorite story is "Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes". Parker loves to sing and dance and will sing (and dance) with just about anything. He shocked me the other day when he sang the words to "Life is a Highway" on the CARS soundtrack.
Parker loves green beans, apples, meat, bread, and cookies. He loves to sleep with his bear. Parker is also the most verbal of the bunch and has gotten very good at tattling. He loves playing with cars and cooking with the play kitchen. I've also caught him pretend playing with the barn and the car garage.
CHASE: Chase is the clown of the bunch. He loves to make me laugh, and he gives the best hugs. Everyone thinks he looks mischievous, but he really is a sweetheart. He is the first to say "Sorwy" (sorry) after a disagreement and give the other person a hug. He loves to help me with all of my "Mommy" chores.
Chase also loves books, especially "Bob the Builder: Run Away Rolley" and "Mr. Brown". In fact, he has both of these books memorized and can fill in the words if I pause during the story. He is the best at eating and will usually eat anything I put before him. Chase is attached with a capital "A" to his paci. He actually sleeps with two pacis, one in his hand and one in his mouth. He loves Mickey and Handy Manny and gets so excited when he sees them. He likes to be in charge of the T.V. as well, turning it on in the morning for cartoons and then off when they are over. And, there is much to pay for the poor soul who dares to take this job from him. He loves playing with his brothers, whether it is all of them or just one.
I could go on forever about each of them and all of the things they do on a daily basis. And while there are days that I just wonder if we will ever get through, I LOVE these 4 boys with every part of my being and am just so thankful that God has blessed me with the joy of getting to watch them grow, even if it has to go by so fast.
